| Known in some circles as the "Memphis Blues Again" bootleg, this live recording finds Steely Dan in prime form, playing their first ever appearance in Memphis, Tennessee while on tour immediately after the 1974 release of their third album, Pretzel Logic. Opening with a furiously technical reading of "Bodhisattva," Becker, Fagen and company rarely catch their breaths for the next hour and change, blasting through tunes like "My Old School," "Show Biz Kids," and "Reelin' in the Years" with pinpoint accuracy. The stereo mix and soundboard recording quality make this one of the better live documents of Steely Dan at this bright point in their early days. ~ Fred Thomas| |
