| 2016年5月24日に75歳を迎えるロックの神様ボブ・ディラン。期を同じくしてリリースされる今作『フォールン・エンジェルズ』には、音楽界屈指の名声と影響力を持つソングライターたちによって書かれたアメリカの往年の名曲を12曲収録。ジャック・フロスト(ディランの別名)がプロデュースを手がけたアルバムはボブ・ディランにとって37枚目のスタジオ作品となり、2015年1月に発売された『シャドウズ・イン・ザ・ナイト』に続く新作となる。 『フォールン・エンジェルズ』の制作にあたり、ディランはジョニー・マーサー、ハロルド・アーレン、サミー・カーン、キャロリン・リーといった幅広いソングライター陣の作品から曲を選び、ツアー・バンドとともに録音に臨んだ。アルバムの録音は2015年、ハリウッドのキャピトル・スタジオで行われた。アルバム収録曲の「メランコリー・ムード」は1939年にフランク・シナトラがハリー・ジェームス楽団と録音したシナトラにとってのファースト・シングル。 |
