| シンセポップの王者フューチャー・アイランズ!キラー・チューン満載の史上最高傑作とともに帰還! 『Singles』(2014)から3年。フューチャー・アイランズ5枚目となる待望のアルバム『The Far Field』を《4AD》よりリリース!前作『Singles』の成功を機に数々のステージを踏んだ彼らは、その後メンバー各々がプロジェクトを展開。ギター&ベースのキャッションは、ダブル・ダガーのブルース・ウィレンとパールズとして活動、ウェルマーズ(キーボード/プログラミング)はソロ・プロジェクトのモス・オブ・オーラを、そして、ヴォーカルのへリングは、MCヘムロック・アーンスト名義でマッドリブとコラボ作品を発表する一方、クラムス・カジノやバッドバッドノットグッドらの作品にヴォーカルとして参加するなど、精力的に活動を展開している。そして、2016年1月、スリーター・キニーやセイント・ヴィンセントを手掛けたグラミー賞受賞プロデューサーのジョン・コングルトンを迎え、ザ・ビーチ・ボーイズやプリンスなど数々の傑作を生み出した伝説的なスタジオ〈サンセット・サウンド〉でレコーディングをスタートさせる。ストリングとホーンのアレンジにパトリック・マクミン、デュエット曲「Shadows」(M11) には、ブロンディのデボラ・ハリー、ドラマーにはマイケル・ローリーらが参加。『Singles』からさらに磨きがかかった驚くほど強烈な作品に仕上がっている。 |
