| グリズリー・ベア、5年振りの5作目! 2004年ブルックリンにて結成、以降4作のアルバムをリリースし、レディオヘッドと共演したり単独でも大規模なツアーを成功させ、またピッチフォークはじめ音楽メディアからUSインディロック・シーンの最高峰と絶賛されてきたグリズリー・ベア。2012年の『Shields』リリースの後、4人のメンバーそれぞれは互いに距離を取るようになる。エド・ドロスト(Vo.)は音楽から離れてロサンゼルスに、ダニエル・ロッセン(Vo.&G.)はニューヨーク州北部に移り自身の作品制作に専念、クリストファー・ベア(Dr.)はプレイヤーとして活動しながらテレビ番組のサウンドトラックなどを手掛け、クリス・テイラー(G.)はベルリンにて滞在の後ロサンゼルスに渡りソロ作品の制作や他アーティストのプロデュースを手掛けていた。次回作に対する確固としたヴィジョンが持てないまま、それぞれの活動を行っていた最中の2015年春、バンドのプロデュースも手掛け、まとめ役であったクリス・テイラーの呼びかけでネット上のファイル共有ソフトを介して再び4人のアイデアを持ち寄りながら、互いを探るように少しずつ制作が始まった。2016年6月についに4人がNYで顔を合わせてセッションが実現した時には、メンバー自身にとってもミラクルであり、再び4人で鳴らす喜び、興奮に沸いた瞬間であった。5年の歳月によって刷新された今作は、RCAからの第一弾リリースとなる。 |
