| 現行LAジャズの結晶にして、今また新たな黄金期を迎えるシーンの象徴的作品として世界中で高く評価された2015年のデビュー・アルバム『The Epic』以来となるカマシ・ワシントン新ミニ・アルバム『Harmony ofDifference』がYoung Turksからリリースされる。 前作のメイン・パーソネルを務めたザ・ネクスト・ステップの面々に加え、盟友サンダーキャットやテラス・マーティン、そしてギタリストには若手技巧派としてチック・コリアからソランジュのバックまで務めるマット・ヘイズがレコーディングに参加した本作は、6つの楽章から構成される組曲となっており、作曲技法のひとつである"対位法"の可能性を探求している。その"対位法"についてカマシは、"類似性と違いとのバランスを取って、別々のメロディのあいだにハーモニーを作りだすアート"だと定義しており、5曲の異なるテーマ、そしてそれらをひとつに融合して演奏した13分を超える大曲「Truth」へと帰結する。 |
