| J Mascisが自身3枚目となるアルバム『Elastic Days』をリリースする。これは前作『Tied to a Star』から4年振りとなる作品。 『Elastic Days』はJ Mascisのスタジオ、Bisquiteenでレコーディングされた。大半の楽器はJ Mascis自身がプレイしたが、前作『Tied to aStar 』にも参加したKen Miauri(The B-52's、Pedro the Lion、The Mammals)がキーボードをプレイ。また、J Mascisの古くからの友人でもあるPallJenkins(Black Heart Procession)、Mark Mulcahy(Miracle Legion)、Zoe Randell(Luluc)がゲストとしてヴォーカルを加えた。『Elastic Days』に流れるJ Mascisの柔らかなアプローチは、Neil YoungがソロとCrazy Horseで使い分ける二つのアプローチと容易に比較できる。 「(ヴォーカルがメロディックになったのは)何回かヴォーカル・レッスンをうけて、ウォーム・アップをするようになったからかもしれない。ただ、このアルバムで他の作品と大きく違うのはドラムだ。僕は今、ドラムをプレイする機会があまりないから、当初の計画よりも沢山のドラムをプレイしたよ」とJMascisは語っている。 |
