| 2021年に発売された『マリス・ヤンソンス・エディション』(900200)からの分売アルバム、アナログ盤にて再登場! 「ショスタコーヴィチの音楽に心を奪われ、心の一番奥深いところまで揺さぶられる人が世界中で増えている。ショスタコーヴィチの音楽は独特だ。それは政治がもたらした痛ましい時代の証言であると同時に、人間存在にかかわる根本的な感覚と経験が生み出す、時代を越えた表現となっている。私にとっては特に。」と語った名指揮者マリス・ヤンソンス。 このアルバムには2011年と2012年に開催されたコンサートから、2曲のショスタコーヴィチ作品のライヴ録音が収録されています。 ショスタコーヴィチの「ピアノ協奏曲第1番」は、正式には「ピアノとトランペット、弦楽合奏のための協奏曲」といい、トランペットにもソリストとしてのテクニックが要求される作品。ショスタコーヴィチは、歌劇《ムツェンスクのマクベス夫人》の完成からわずか数週間後の1933年夏にこの作品を書き上げており、26歳の若き作曲家の計り知れないほどの優れた才能が存分に感じられる逸品です。ピアノを卓越した技巧で知られるイェフィム・ブロンフマン、トランペットをNDRエルプ・フィル(旧名称ハンブルク北ドイツ放送交響楽団)の首席奏者を務め、現在もソリストとして活躍するベテラン、ハンネス・ロイビンが演奏、さまざまな風刺や引用なども含め、ヤンソンスの機敏な指揮が全体をまとめています。 交響曲第9番は1945年11月3日にエフゲニー・ムラヴィンスキー指揮、レニングラード・フィルハーモニー交響楽団によって初演された「戦争三部作」の最後の作品。勝利の交響曲と期待されましたが、実際には風刺と皮肉に満ちており、この軽妙な作品はベートーヴェンの第九のような作品を求めていた政府関係者の意向に沿うことはありませんでした。ヤンソンスは機知と皮肉に満ちたこの作品をスタイリッシュに仕上げています。 ナクソス・ジャパン |

| Vault material from the late Mariss Jansons is beginning to appear, and this one adds to the picture of the great conductors lifes work. As a Latvian, he was perhaps ideally situated to catch the nuances in the music of Shostakovich (or, if preferred, Schostakowitsch, the German spelling), and his readings of that composers music, as well as his choice of soloists, are often superb. The music here was recorded live but didnt originate in a single concert; the Concerto in C minor for piano, trumpet, and string orchestra, Op. 35 (also known as the Piano Concerto No. 1) was recorded in 2012 at the Herkulessaal in Munich, while the Symphony No. 9 in E flat major, Op. 70, is from the Musikverein in Vienna a year earlier. However, the two pieces fit together well, and the Bavarian Radio engineers remaster them nicely into a whole, with fine live sound in both instances. The piano-and-trumpet concerto is a madcap work in which Shostakovich, facing increasing government restrictions, opens with innocuous material and then subverts it at every turn. (The slow movement is as lovely a Romantic nocturne as one could want.) Jansons, pianist Yefim Bronfman, and trumpeter Hannes Laubin deliver the proper edge. There is also a bit of subversion in the Symphony No. 9 of 1945, where Shostakovich was supposed to deliver a grand triumphal paean to Joseph Stalin but instead offered a tense neoclassic essay that, a few years later, would be one of the pieces that got him into serious hot water for a second time. All of Shostakovichs symphonies are orchestral showpieces, but perhaps this one above all, and Jansons by this point in his career with the group, had brought it to a superb level. Sample the nest of wind lines at the beginning of the third movement. There are wonderful orchestral touches throughout in a release that will be of interest far beyond circles of Jansons collectors. |
