| Several months after Trippie Redd released MANSION MUSIK, his fifth studio album, the rapper issued the fifth and reportedly final volume of his mixtape series A Love Letter to You. In contrast to his previous albums harder sound, and the rage subgenre he helped launch around 2021, A Love Letter to You 5 finds Trippie in pop/emo-rap mode, embracing lush, sparkling guitars and aching lyrics that are more often sung (sometimes belted out) than rapped. Though not as long as the fourth volume of the series, 5 is still lengthy and exhausting, but there are moments which show that Trippie is quite good at this sort of thing, like the radiant highlight "Last Days." Lil Wayne guests on the 2000s-era rap throwback "Im Mad at Me," and other guests include the Kid LAROI, Skye Morales, and Roddy Ricch.
