| ピンク・フロイド 15年振りとなる メンバー公認最新ベスト盤『8-Tracks』(アナログ盤) ピンク・フロイド15年振り(2011年『百花繚乱』以来)となるメンバー公認最新ベスト盤『8-Tracks』(邦題:極致～8トラックス)。プログレッシヴ・ロックの頂点まで上り詰めた1971年から1979年までの8年間の名盤の数々から厳選された8曲を収録。 収録曲は、大ヒット曲、代表曲「Money」(マネー)、「Wish You Were Here」(あなたがここにいてほしい)、「Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2」(アナザー・ブリック・イン・ザ・ウォール)、「Time」(タイム)、「Comfortably Numb」(コンフォタブリー・ナム)に加え、初期の楽曲「One Of These Days」(吹けよ風、呼べよ嵐)や「Wot's… Uh The Deal」(ウォッツ)、そして「Pigs On The Wing」(翼を持った豚)のPart1とPart2が一つになった完全版も収録されている。トラック曲順は、アルバムを一気通貫でリスニング体験できるようスティーヴン・ウィルソンによって編集されている。 美しいカバーアートのデザインはKate Gibbが担当。ヒプノシスが創り上げたこれまでの象徴的な絵柄をコラージュしたアート作品となっている。彼女はこれまでにケミカル・ブラザースとの長年のコラボなどで音と一体化したアートワークをデザインすることで知られている。いわゆるデジタル主流のデザインとは対極にある、手作業のシルクスクリーン偶然性("かすれ"ズレ"インクのムラ")を活かす強い色彩と抽象的な形といった「アナログ×実験性」のスタイルで、音の"揺らぎ"を視覚的に表現。デジタル全盛の中で手刷りの質感を音楽カルチャーに持ち込んでいる。 |

| True to its title, this 2026 anthology gathers eight Pink Floyd tracks from their artistic and commercial zenith in the 1970s. Essentially, its a brief greatest-hits compilation; "Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2," "Wish You Were Here," and "Money" are among the groups best-known songs. But it also charts their emergence from the psychedelic experimentation of their early period into the pioneering art rock grandeur that made them superstars in the middle of the decade. The collection was compiled by Porcupine Trees Steven Wilson, a notable Floyd evangelist who treats his task with appropriate reverence. To that end, its tracks are sequenced in a seamless flow, connected by sound effects sourced from the original multi-track tapes. The set opens with the slightly less ubiquitous Meddle cuts "One of These Days" and "Wots…Uh, the Deal?" before segueing into primetime selections from Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. While all of the material here has been widely available for years, one track bears a distinctive edit. Spliced together are parts 1 and 2 of Animals acoustic bookends, turning Roger Waters "Pigs on the Wing" into a single three-and-a-half-minute track. This rarity was previously available only on the 8-Track cartridge (see what they did there?) for 1977s Animals. 8-Tracks is a solid entry point for newcomers and, by dint of its smart curation, a rewarding listen for longtime Floyd fans as well. ~ Timothy Monger |
