商品の紹介
| Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto recorded Lichtung after the married couple decided to settle down near Berlin, close to where Hacke grew up, after living a nomadic lifestyle for 14 years. The album also marks the duos first since Hacke left industrial pioneers Einsturzende Neubauten, the group he joined as a teenager in 1981. In some ways, particularly due to the vocals, which are entirely sung in German this time around, Lichtung actually sounds closer to Neubauten than hackedepicciottos previous work. Hacke re-incorporates electronic experiments similar to the ones he made as a youth, before he joined the group. Several of the songs take the form of slow-moving, sorrowful dirges with weeping strings and drone metal guitars. "Wiederbelebung" is busier, with rousing synth bass underpinned by beats which stomp with a heavy crunch. "Erntedank" is a highly focused blend of swooping rhythmic pulsations and crushing guitars, though it drifts away on a quieter, prettier tangent in the middle. Theres something otherworldly and almost hymnlike about "Zeitenwende," which seems like the albums emotional high point. After that, the LP returns to the more cinematic feel of hackedepicciottos prior releases. "Draussen" has a rumbling bassline and suspenseful strings, and "Einig" manages to be as poignant as it is hypnotic. Theres a sense of familiarity to the duos homecoming album, marking a fresh new start connected to their past. ~ Paul Simpson |
