商品の紹介
| Chaka Khan started dropping hints about the look and sound of Chakzilla shortly after the release of the preceding Hello Happiness. In 2020, she competed on the third U.S. season of The Masked Singer as Miss Monster. Three years later, at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony -- where Jazmine Sullivan presented her with the Musical Excellence Award -- she performed "Im Every Woman" with new friend Sia. Khan became Sias godmother, co-wrote and was featured on Sias "Immortal Queen," and then continued to write with her goddaughter and producer Greg Kurstin for Chakzilla. These ten primarily brisk songs find a kind of middle ground between Sia and Kurstins partnership and classic Khan. There are faint flashes of early solo gems like "Clouds," "Fate," and "I Know You, I Live You," and Snoop Dogg cant help but reference Melle Mels bit from "I Feel for You" when he introduces "Boogies in My Soul," a highlight for its casual groove and a sense of space. Khan sounds like she is having a ball throughout. ~ Andy Kellman |

Sia and Kurstins work comes off as slightly hewn while still seeming better suited for a full-on pop artist. As with Hello Happiness, the effect is akin to getting a sweet iced tea from a fast food restaurant instead of a neighbor, but theres no doubting that Khan sounds like she is having a ball. ~ Andy Kellman |
