| After creating something more down to earth with HUMANiSE, a vocal-heavy art-pop album featuring two choirs and multiple guests, Australian DJ and producer HAAi heads back to the club with companion piece DIGITiSE. The two records are essentially different sides of the same coin, as both approach the subject of being human in a digital world. Theyre both highly collaborative efforts, with previous guests like James Massiah and Kaiden Ford returning, while others such as Echonomist, Skybreak, and Colombian childrens choir Cantoalegre make debut appearances on a HAAi release. HAAi placed a greater emphasis on creating tracks she could play in her DJ sets, yet HUMANiSE still has a distinct flow as a complete listening experience. "RE-HUMANiSE" trickles in with extended monologue about returning to the communal experience of dancefloor unity, as the beat gradually reaches full bloom. "Printerlude" playfully samples copying machine noises and phone operator messages, along with sharp, rhythmic glitches. "Depth Perception" and "Technology" are similarly short but full of ideas, containing some of the most daring sound design HAAi has attempted. "Ignition" is a club-friendly update of the previous albums "Go," elevating from galloping garage beats to more dramatic synths and filtered vocal loops. "DIGITiSE" feels like something from Baby, Were Ascending, but replacing the euphoric trance vibes with more kinetically charged, tightly clipped techno. "HUMANiSE Radio" brings back some of the banging breaks that were a staple of older HAAi tracks, while "THANK U" has a heavier, more commanding bounce to it. "Talking Walls" slows down for a dubstep-like breakdown early on, letting choral vocals shine through, with a message of celebrating life despite persistent voices inside our heads.
