| Dragonflies spread their dark sonic wings on their 2026 debut album. A collaboration between singer/guitarist Dhani Harrison and producer Nigel Godrich, Dragonflies showcases the duos love of spacy, electronic-tinged psychedelic rock. Its a sound theyve both explored in various ways on their own, including on Harrisons own solo albums and Godrichs acclaimed work with Radiohead, Beck, and others. It was while working on his 2023 album Innerstanding that Harrison reached out to Godrich for some advice and the two struck up a friendship. Working at the producers Brixton studio they developed a process where Harrison would supply vocals and guitars and Godrich would rework the tracks, utilizing electronics, tape loops, and his deep soundboard acumen. They also brought on board drummer Joey Waronker and Becks father arranger David Campbell to further flesh out their tracks. The result is an album where Harrisons lilting, poetic songs are expanded with sinewy bass and synths, earthy percussion, and echoey guitars. Cuts like the opening "Slower" evince the golden sky shimmer of Pink Floyd, while "Head or Heart" spins with a waltzing soulfulness not unlike something Harrisons father might have brought to the Beatles. Theres also a healthy dose of Krautrock swagger pulsing through the album, as on hypnotically sinister "Setting Sun," a song that conjures the heady club days of 90s Brit-pop. | Dragonfliesは、Dhani HarrisonとNigel Godrichが長年培ってきたソングライティング、プロデュース、そして映画音楽制作の経験を結集したコラボレーション・プロジェクト。そのデビュー・アルバムは、Dark Horse Records / BMGよりリリースされる。 Dhani Harrisonは、グラミー賞を2度受賞したミュージシャン、コンポーザー、プロデューサー。バンドthenewno2で注目を集めた後、2017年にソロ・デビュー作『IN///PARALLEL』を発表し、その後も高い評価を受けた『INNERSTANDING』をリリース。さらに、Wu-Tang Clan、UNKLE、John McLaughlin、 Annie Lennox、Pearl Jam、Nitin Sawhney、Perry Farrell、Prince, Regina Spektor、Fistful of Mercy(Dhaniが Ben Harper、Joseph Arthurと結成)らとのコラボレーションでも知られる。 映画・テレビ音楽の作曲家としても活躍し、2013年の映画『Beautiful Creatures』で劇伴デビュー。以降、『MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A.』『Cut Throat City』『Obey Giant: The Art and Story of Shepard Fairey』『Good Girls Revolt』『The Case Against Adnan Syed』など数多くの映像作品の音楽を手がけている。 一方のNigel Godrichは、現代を代表する音楽プロデューサー/レコーディング・エンジニアの一人。Radioheadとは1994年から制作を共にし、『OK Computer』(1997年)以降のすべてのスタジオ・アルバムをプロデュース。グラミー賞を2度受賞し、Thom Yorke、Flea、Joey Waronker、Mauro Refoscoとともに結成したAtoms for Peaceのメンバーとしても知られる。 また、Paul McCartney、Beck、Red Hot Chili Peppers、U2、IDLES、Roger Waters、Air、Pavement、Travis、R.E.M.など数多くのアーティストと仕事を重ね、映画『Scott Pilgrim vs. the World』ではBeckと共同で音楽を制作。さらに、Radiohead、Queens Of The Stone Age、PJ Harvey、Sonic Youth、Beck、Geese、The White Stripesらが出演したライヴ映像シリーズ『From the Basement』の企画・プロデュースも手がけている。 140gブラック・ヴァイナル 1LP仕様 |
