| Even though Orbital had hit the Top 40 of the British singles chart several times by the time they took the stage at the 1994 Glastonbury Festival, they were still largely popular among ravers rather than rock fans or the general public, and some people still got them mixed up with the group that did "Little Fluffy Clouds." That all changed when their set took place, especially since Channel 4 was providing extensive television coverage of the festival, giving British home audiences their first taste of live electronic music, and subsequently opening the door for the arena-conquering success of acts like the Chemical Brothers, Underworld, and Faithless. Orbital returned to the Glastonbury stage several more times, and the compilation Live at Glastonbury 1994-2004 gathered highlights from these performances, but the original 1994 set was first given a full, official release in 2026, more than 30 years after it occurred. Largely focusing on material from their classic second album and then-upcoming third full-length, Snivilisation, the set showcased the duos improvisational approach to performing, sequencing loops and samples in real time. This spontaneity is evident during the occasional moment when the drums arent perfectly lined up, but also when Orbital can clearly feel the energy of the crowd response, prompting them to take things to the next level. Some of the songs blissfully exceed the length of the album versions, including "Sad But True," which features both the heavenly vocals of Alison Goldfrapp and extensive usage of the opening drum fill of the Spin Doctors "Two Princes." The two-part "Are We Here?," also with Goldfrapp, is featured in its full 15-minute glory, with an extra touch of menace due to the inclusion of a sample warning of a nuclear attack. Surprisingly, the pair chose to end the set with debut single "Chime" rather than their most well-known song, the euphoric "Halcyon," but thats hardly a problem, as this "Chime" goes hard, and might be the best-ever version of the classic track.
