| Months after concluding the biggest tour of their careers, Linkin Park released the concert film and accompanying album, Unshatter. Following the death of inimitable frontman Chester Bennington in 2017, the band wouldnt be heard from for seven years, resurfacing in 2024 with a new vocalist (Emily Armstrong), drummer (Colin Brittain), and album (From Zero). The accompanying tour consisted of 100 shows that took them around the world over the course of two years. Their stop at Sao Paulos Allianz Parque stadium was recorded for this project, which hit the streets in September 2026. The shows five-act structure is replicated here, with most songs making the 20-song cut. Favorites such as "Somewhere I Belong," "What Ive Done," "Numb," and "In the End" appear here, but in a baffling move, "One Step Closer" and "Crawling" were omitted. Track choices aside, Mike Shinoda and the band sound terrific and Armstrong hits all the required monstrous screams ("Casualty" and "Faint" will have listeners reaching for a throat lozenge) and pained cries (her excellent performances on "The Catalyst," "Waiting for the End," and the piano-backed "Lost" are some of the best examples of how shes slid into the huge pressure of her role). The interplay between Shinoda and Armstrong works well enough, even if, at the most critical, this new iteration still occasionally feels like karaoke or a tribute act. Benningtons presence looms too large to ignore, which is something the band may never be able to shake, no matter how hard these songs still hit and connect to their massive global audience. Overall, Unshatter serves as a great document for fans who may have thought theyd never hear these songs live after the loss of Chester; additionally, its solid enough to maybe convince some skeptics to accept LP 2.0. ~ Neil Z.
